# What is Board basis?

Board basis states which meals the room rate includes, ranging from room only through half board to all-inclusive.

Also called: Half board, Full board, All-inclusive.

## How it works #

The labels are not standardised: what half board covers, which drinks are included and whether the minibar or a choice of restaurants counts is decided by the property. For points collectors it matters twice over, because rates including meals often earn differently and because an elite breakfast benefit can make the surcharge pointless.

## Not to be confused with #

Board basis is not the same as the elite breakfast benefit: the rate owes the meal contractually, the benefit grants it under programme rules.
