# What is Dynamic award pricing?

Dynamic award pricing is a mileage price tied to the cash fare of a flight, which is why it moves daily instead of sitting in a fixed chart.

Also called: Dynamic pricing, Revenue-based awards.

## How it works #

Under dynamic award pricing the programme converts today’s cash fare into miles. When the fare rises, the mileage price rises with it. Every redemption becomes a snapshot, and saving towards one specific trip loses its point because the target price never holds still. For personal maths this means the value of a mile comes only from the booking in front of you, never from a table.

## Not to be confused with #

Dynamic award pricing is not the same as a devaluation: a devaluation is a one-off worsening of the rules, while dynamic pricing is a permanent link to the market that can move in either direction.
