# What is Fifth night free?

Fifth night free is an elite benefit under which an award stay of five or more consecutive nights is charged for four nights of points.

Also called: 5th night free.

## How it works #

The benefit applies only to continuous award stays in the same property; a break or a switch between points and cash nights restarts the count. The effective discount is one fifth of the points and does not grow on longer stays. At properties whose award prices swing widely, splitting a stay into two shorter bookings can still come out cheaper.

## Not to be confused with #

Fifth night free is not the same as a hotel promotion: the benefit comes from the loyalty programme and applies to points bookings only.
