# What is No-show clause?

A no-show clause is the condition that the rest of a booking is cancelled if a passenger fails to take one flight segment.

Also called: No-show policy.

## How it works #

It bites in two situations above all: skipping the outbound of a return trip, and deliberately ending a journey at the connecting airport. The airline then cancels the remaining segments automatically. German courts have held such clauses ineffective in several configurations, but in practice the airline acts first and the claim has to be pursued afterwards.

## Not to be confused with #

A no-show clause is not the same as a cancellation fee: the fee applies when a booking is cancelled in advance, the clause when a passenger simply does not appear.

## In German #

The German term is No-Show-Klausel. [German version of this term](/de/glossar/no-show-klausel)
