# What is Saver award?

A saver award is the cheapest award level in a programme, the level that is tightly rationed and the only one partner programmes are able to book.

Also called: Saver level, Saver space.

## How it works #

Programmes often run two award levels: a cheap one with limited inventory and an expensive one that is nearly always open. Only the cheap level is passed on to partners. Anyone redeeming through a partner airline therefore sees this level alone and either gets the cheap seat or nothing. The expensive level inside a programme’s own site is almost always worse value than simply buying the ticket.

## Not to be confused with #

A saver award is not the same as a discounted cash fare: the term describes a mileage level inside the loyalty programme, not a reduced price in money.

## In German #

The German term is Sparpreis-Prämie. [German version of this term](/de/glossar/sparpreis-praemie)
