An award chart is a published price list stating how many miles an award flight costs in a given region and cabin, independent of the cash price of that flight.
Also called: Award table, Fixed award chart.
How it works#
An award chart sorts routes into zones and gives each zone a fixed mileage price per cabin. Anyone who knows the chart can work out the cost of a redemption in advance and compare programmes against each other. Chart-based programmes are predictable, but not permanent: the chart can be replaced at any time, and replacing it is the most common form a devaluation takes.
Not to be confused with#
An award chart is not to be confused with dynamic award pricing: a chart states a fixed mileage price, while dynamic pricing ties the mileage number to the current cash fare and moves daily.
