Peak and off-peak award pricing is an award chart with several price levels depending on travel dates, typically high, low and shoulder season.
Also called: Seasonal award pricing.
How it works#
The model sits between a fixed chart and full dynamic pricing: the levels are published and therefore plannable, but the calendar decides which one applies. Programmes define the peak dates themselves and move them without notice. What counts for planning is not the remembered level but the price shown in the calendar for the specific date.
Not to be confused with#
Peak and off-peak pricing is not the same as dynamic award pricing: seasonal levels are published and limited in number, while dynamic prices follow the cash fare with no fixed steps.
