What is Hotel elite status?

Hotel elite status is a tier in a hotel programme that holds out benefits such as room upgrades, breakfast or late checkout.

Hotel elite status is a tier in a hotel programme that holds out benefits such as room upgrades, breakfast or late checkout.

Also called: Hotel status.

How it works#

Its practical value depends on the individual property far more than with airlines: brands inside the same group interpret benefits differently, and franchised hotels deviate from the chain’s standards. Almost every promise is subject to availability. In properties without a club lounge or restaurant, elite benefits routinely turn out smaller than expected.

Not to be confused with#

Hotel elite status is not the same as booking through a travel agency’s luxury programme: status comes from the loyalty programme, agency perks from a contract with the hotel.
