A status match is the transfer of status from another programme: a provider grants a comparable tier in order to win the customer over.
A status match is the transfer of status from another programme: a provider grants a comparable tier in order to win the customer over.
Also called: Elite match.
How it works#
The request requires proof of the existing status, usually a statement showing name and tier. The matched status is granted for a limited time and often converts into a condition: a minimum number of flights or nights within a few months, or it drops back. Most programmes allow one match per person, ever.
Not to be confused with#
A status match is not the same as a status challenge: a match grants the tier first, while a challenge requires the activity up front.
