A trusted traveller programme vets passengers in advance and gives them an expedited lane at security or border control in return.
A trusted traveller programme vets passengers in advance and gives them an expedited lane at security or border control in return.
Also called: Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, Known Traveler Number, KTN.
How it works#
Vetting happens once, with an application, a fee, an interview and fingerprints; eligibility then rides on a membership number entered into the booking. If the number is missing from the ticket, the membership does nothing at the airport. The schemes are national and not transferable, a European registration opens no US lane and vice versa.
Not to be confused with#
A trusted traveller programme is not the same as priority boarding: it speeds up government checks rather than boarding, and no airline grants it.
