Pet in cabin means carrying a small animal on board in a soft bag under the seat in front, booked in advance and charged as an extra.
Also called: Flying with pets, PETC.
How it works#
Airlines cap the combined weight of animal and bag, the bag dimensions and the number of animals per flight, so the booking has to be made early and cannot be added once the quota is full. Larger animals travel in the hold, which brings its own temperature and breed restrictions. Separately, destination countries require their own paperwork, vaccinations and waiting periods, all of which should be settled before booking.
Not to be confused with#
A pet in cabin is not the same as an assistance animal: assistance animals follow separate rules on fees, space and documentation and do not count against the quota.
